To avoid the US-export regulations, Hushmail claim all the cryptographic code was written overseas - in Anguilla.
Hushmail offers a free web mail service, making money from advertising. All the basic web mail services are offered, giving the choice between a regular account, and an anonymous account where the email is sent anonymously. However, attachments are not supported and cannot be sent or received using Hushmail
