Samba 1.9.18 which is distributed by RedHat, Caldera and TurboLinux, was found to be vulnerable to security attacks, making it possible for a malicious user to unprivileged access.
The distribution of Samba 1.9.18 was found to have two security vulnerabilities:
1) Wsmbconf can be made to overwrite files which a non privileged doesn't have access to, this may assist in gaining root.
2) The spool area is created world writeable. Allowing a non privileged user (and anyone other than the owner of the printing file) the chance to change files before they are being sent to the printer, making it possible for a malicious user to insert commands into a postscript line which might cause it to execute arbitrary codes.
