Vulnerable Systems:
* Symantec Altiris Notification Server (NS) 6.0 before R12,
* Deployment Server 6.8 ,
* Deployment Server6.9 ,
* Symantec Management Platform (SMP) 7.0 before SP3
Symantec Altiris Notification Server with Symantec Management Platform and Altiris Deployment Solution are prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because the applications use an ActiveX control provided by 'AeXNSConsoleUtilities.dll' that fails to properly validate user-supplied input.
An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application using the ActiveX control (typically Internet Explorer). Failed attacks will likely cause denial-of-service conditions.
